Literally, boy love. Pederasty is usually used in the restricted sense to refer to anal intercourse performed by an older youth or man on a prepubertal or early pubertal boy. The term is based on the custom, tracing back to classical Greece, of older men having younger adolescent male lovers as the recipients of anal intercourse. It is not conventionally applied to the relationship between an older woman and a boy. It is not a synonym for pedophilia, nor for ephebophilia.
