Cesolfa noun. obsolete exc. Hist. Also C sol fa. ME.
[from C as a pitch letter + sol and fa designating tones in the solmization of Guido d'Arezzo (c 990-1050).]
Medieval Music. The note C in Guido d'Arezzo's 3rd and 4th hexachords, where it was sung to the syllables sol and fa respectively. Cf. ALAMIRE, BEFA, CEFAUT, next, etc.
