Discovered or formulated by Gauss; esp. (Statistics) designating a curve, function, statistical process, etc., that is described mathematically by a function of the form (exp [(x¦Ì)2/2¦Ò2])/¦Ò(2), where x is the variable, ¦Ì the mean, and ¦Ò2 the variance. Cf. NORMAL adjective 7.
