[Greek Huades, according to popular etym. from huein to rain but perh. actually from hus pig, SWINE (the Latin name being Suculae little pigs).]
(The name of) a group of stars near the Pleiades in the constellation Taurus, the heliacal rising of which was once thought to foretell rain.
