Mithraic adjective. L17.
[(from Latin Mithras, Mithres from Greek Mithras from) Old Persian, Avestan Mithra = Sanskrit Mitra, one of the gods of the Vedic pantheon: see -IC.]
Of or pertaining to Mithras, an ancient Persian god worshipped in much of northern and western Europe in the time of the Roman Empire, and later often identified with the sun.

Antiquities. A man's large rectangular cloak, worn esp. by Greek philosophical and religious teachers. M16.
a. Zoology. The mantle of a mollusc or brachiopod. L19.
