Martin (1824-1915), French engineer] the process of melting pig iron and scrap steel together in a Siemens furnace, usu. in alkaline conditions. Siemens process a process similar to the Siemens-Martin process, but usu. carried out in acidic conditions. Siemens producer a form of gas producer developed by the Siemens brothers.
