Inflammation of the prepuce.

Origin: G. Posthe, prepuce, + -itis, inflammation

Ulcerative posthitis, a contagious disease of sheep and goats caused by the bacterium Corynebacterium renale in the presence of high levels of urinary urea and characterised by ulceration, with scab formation, of the prepuce.

Synonym: enzootic balanoposthitis, pizzle rot, sheath rot.
