Crazy Creature Brownies (recipes)


Crazy Creature Brownies

Cool Time: 1 hour

Bake Time: 20 minutes

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Yield: Makes 20 brownies



Ingredients:



1-1/4cups granulated sugar

3/4cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter or margarine

1/2cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2cup cholesterol-free egg substitute

1teaspoon vanilla

1/2teaspoon Baking soda

1/2teaspoon Baking powder

1-1/2cups all-purpose flour

1cup low-fat buttermilk

3cups powdered sugar, sifted

1/3cup orange juice, apple juice or fat free milk

Food coloring (optional)









Preparation:





1.Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan with heavy-duty foil, extending foil over edges. Spray foil with nonstick Cooking spray. Combine granulated sugar, butter and cocoa powder in large saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until butter is melted. Remove from heat.2.Cool sugar mixture 5 minutes. Stir in egg substitute. Add vanilla, Baking soda and Baking powder; mix well. Alternately add flour and buttermilk, stirring until well blended after each addition. Spread into prepared pan. Bake 20 to 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.3.Cool completely. Use foil to lift brownie out of pan. Remove foil; place brownie on cutting board. Cut in shapes with 2- to 3-inch animal shaped cookie cutters. Place on wire rack over waxed paper.4.Combine powdered sugar and orange juice in small bowl. Tint with Food coloring, if desired. Spread over brownies. Decorate as desired. Let stand about 20 minutes or until dry.
