The moving of something from its place or position; the extent of such a movement; the difference or relation between an initial position of a body and a subsequent position. E19.

The removal of something by something else which takes its place; spec. the fact of a submerged or partly submerged body occupying a volume which would otherwise be occupied by the fluid; the amount or weight of fluid that would fill this volume in the case of a floating ship etc. E19.
