A. noun. The great circle of the celestial sphere representing the sun's apparent path during a year (so called because eclipses of the sun or moon can occur only when the moon is close to this circle). LME.
b. adjective. Of or pertaining to an eclipse, eclipses, or the ecliptic. LME.
