I.
The receiving or (US) conferring of an academic degree, diploma, etc. Also, the ceremony of conferring degrees. LME.

The action or process of dividing into degrees or other proportionate divisions on a graduated scale. (rare before M19.) LME.
b. Each or all of the marks on a vessel, instrument, etc., which indicate degrees of a quantity; a gradation on a scale; a line of latitude or longitude on a map. Usu. in pl. L16.
c. The manner in which something is graduated. M17.
Arrangement by degrees or gradations; a gradation. L15.
b. Progression or elevation by degrees; a step in the process. M17.
