Coarse sand and small water-worn or pounded stones, sometimes with an intermixture of clay, used for laying paths and roads. ME.

Medicine. Aggregations of visible calculi in the urinary tract; a disease marked by these. LME.
Comb.: gravel-blind adjective almost completely blind (orig. joc. 'more than sand-blind', with reference to Shakes. Merch.
