A furred, warm-blooded, amniote animal of the vertebrate class Mammalia, members of which are characterized by the possession of mammary glands in the female (from which the young are fed) and a four-chambered heart, are typically viviparous (but see MONOTREME; cf. also MARSUPIAL, PLACENTAL), and include humans, rodents, bats, whales, ungulates, carnivores, etc.
