[Old French manjue, mangeue itch, from manju- pres. indic. sing. stem of mangier (mod. manger) eat from Latin manducare: see MANDUCATE.]
Any of various itching cutaneous diseases of hairy and woolly animals, and also poultry, caused by parasitic mites which burrow into the skin. Also loosely, scabies in humans. LME.
