A. noun. In Palaeography: a small letter, as opp. to a capital or uncial; (a manuscript in) a small cursive script developed from early Roman hands and written as between four notional lines (with ascenders and descenders). Formerly also (Typography), a small or lower-case letter. E18.
B. adjective.
1. a. Typography. Of a letter: small, lower-case. Now rare or obsolete. E18.
b. Palaeography. Of a letter: small, not capital or uncial; of, written in, or concerning minuscules. M19.
