muon noun. M20.

Particle Physics. An unstable lepton similar to the electron but with a mass about 207 times greater, which is the chief constituent of cosmic radiation at the earth's surface.
Comb.: muon number a quantum number that is 1 for muons and their neutrinos and 0 for other particles and is conserved in all known interactions.
mu'onic adjective of, pertaining to, or involving a muon; (of an atom) having a negative muon orbiting the nucleus: M20.
