A portico, a gallery, a balcony, etc. Now only (dial.), a porch or balcony at the head of an outdoor staircase. LME.
A large polygonal recess with a window, projecting usu. from the upper storey of a building, and supported from the ground or on corbels. LME.
b. In full oriel window. A window in such a recess; a projecting upper-floor window. M18.
