Comb.: phenylene blue the dye indamine; phenylene brown a brown substance derived from phenylenediamine and used as a dye and histological stain; phenylenediamine each of three isomeric solids, C6H4(NH2)2, or any of their alkylated derivatives, which are widely used in the dye industry, as photographic developers, and (the para isomer) as an additive in rubber to prevent oxidation.
