Chemistry. A colourless gaseous alkene, CH2CHCH3, used esp. in organic synthesis. Also called propene.
Comb.: propylene glycol either of two isomeric liquid alcohols, CH2(OH)CH(OH)CH3 and CH2(OH)CH2CH2OH; spec. the former, which is used esp. as a solvent, in antifreeze, and in the food, plastic, and perfume industries; propylene imine = PROPYLENIMINE.
