[Pl. (taken as sing.) of mod. Latin psoa, Greek psoa, usu. in pl. psoai, accus. psoas, the muscles of the loins.]
Anatomy. A large muscle in the groin region which, with the iliacus, flexes the hip (more fully psoas major). Also (in full psoas minor), a smaller muscle present in mammals and some humans, having a similar action. Also psoas muscle.
