Photography. Reversal or other change in the relative darkness of an image due to overexposure; the progressive reduction in the developable density of an emulsion following initial exposure beyond a certain light intensity. Also, the Sabatier effect (cf. PSEUDOSOLARIZATION). M19.
Botany. The inhibition of photosynthesis as a result of prolonged exposure to high light intensities. E20.
The alteration of the opacity of glass as a result of prolonged exposure to light. E20.
