[Old English steorbord, from steor steering paddle, rudder, STEER noun2 (as being the side from which Teutonic vessels were usu. steered) + bord BOARD noun.]
A. noun. The right-hand side of a ship, boat, or aircraft looking forward. Opp. port, larboard. OE.
b. attrib. or as adjective. Belonging to, situated on, or designating the right-hand side of a vessel or aircraft. L15.
bring the starboard tacks aboard, have the starboard tacks aboard, on the starboard tack: see TACK noun1.
C. verb trans. Put or turn (the helm) to the starboard side of the vessel. L16.
D. adverb. To or on the starboard side. M17.

1. A metal (usually gold) cast restoration of the occlusal surface of a posterior tooth or the lingual surface of an anterior tooth, the entire surface of which is in dentin without side walls; retention in the anterior tooth is by pins and in the posterior by pins and/or boxes in retentive grooves in the buccal and lingual walls.

2. A graft applied on the exterior of a bone.
