A heavily built domesticated ox, Bos grunniens, with long shaggy hair and a humped back, kept in the uplands of central Asia for its milk and soft dense underfur, and as a pack animal. Also, a rare wild animal ancestral to this, B. mutus, found high on the Tibetan plateau.
