A small parasympathetic ganglion suspended from the lingual nerve; its postganglionic branches go to the submandibular and sublingual glands; its preganglionic fibres come from the superior salvatory nucleus by way of the chorda tympani.

Synonym: ganglion submandibulare, submaxillary ganglion.
