Cell wall (medicine) and keratitis, dendritic (medicine)

Cell wall (medicine)

cell wall

1. <cell biology> Extracellular material serving a structural role.

2. <plant biology> In plants the primary wall is pectin rich, the secondary wall mostly composed of cellulose.

3. <microbiology> In bacteria, cell wall structure is complex: the walls of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria are distinctly different. Removal of the wall leaves a protoplast or spheroplast.

keratitis, dendritic (medicine)

keratitis, dendritic

A form of herpetic keratitis characterised by the formation of small vesicles which break down and coalesce to form recurring dendritic ulcers, characteristically irregular, linear, branching, and ending in knoblike extremities.
