<technique> For fungi, a method for fixed tissue sections based on Bauer's chromic acid leucofuchsin stain with the addition of Gomori's aldehyde fuchsin stain and metanil yellow as counterstains; against a yellow background, hyphae, conidia, yeast capsules, elastin, and mucin appear in different shades of blue to purple.


Corticosteroids (health)


Sometimes referred to just as 'steroids'. Hormones (which occur naturally) which have a variety of actions when given therapeutically. Usually administered for their anti-inflammatory effect. Their use is limited by unwanted side-effects which may sometimes be serious.
