ICU psychosis (medicine) and FORESEEABILITY (law)

ICU psychosis (medicine)

ICU psychosis
Psychotic episode(s), classically occurring in coronary care patients, occurring within 24 hours after entering the ICU in individuals with no previous history of psychosis; related to sleep deprivation, overstimulation in the ICU, and time spent on life support systems, and should be distinguished from exacerbation of a pre-existing psychosis or an organic psychosis such as delirium.

FORESEEABILITY (law)

A key issue in determining a persons liability. If a defendant could not reasonably have foreseen that someone might be hurt by his or her actions, then there may be no liability.
