deferoxamine (medicine)

deferoxamine
<chemical> Natural product isolated from streptomyces pilosus. It forms iron complexes and is used as a chelating agent, particularly in the form of its mesylate. Because of its ability to form nonabsorbable and rapidly excretable complexes with iron, it is effective in the treatment of conditions associated with excessive iron storage and iron poisoning.

Pharmacological action: antidotes.

Chemical name: Butanediamide, N'-(5-((4-((5-(acetylhydroxyamino)pentyl)amino)-1,4-dioxobutyl)hydroxyamino)pentyl)-N-(5-aminopentyl)-N-hydroxy-
