A form of leprosy chiefly affecting the nerves, marked by hyperesthesia succeeded by anaesthesia, and by paralysis, ulceration, and various trophic disturbances, terminating in gangrene and mutilation.

Synonym: Danielssen's disease, Danielssen-Boeck disease, dry leprosy, trophoneurotic leprosy.

He led the NFL in forward passing in 6 of 16 seasons (1937-52) with the Washington Redskins. He also excelled as a punter and as a defensive halfback.
