The peroneal (fibular) communicating branch of the common peroneal (fibular) nerve; it arises from the common peroneal nerve in the popliteal space and passes over the lateral head of the gastrocnemius to the middle third of the leg, where it unites with the medial sural cutaneous nerve to form the sural nerve.

Synonym: ramus communicans fibularis nervi fibularis communis, ramus communicans peroneus nervi peronei communis, nervus communicans fibularis, nervus communicans peroneus, peroneal anastomotic ramus, peroneal communicating nerve.

black-figure pottery (sh)

Type of Greek pottery that originated in Corinth с 700 BC.

The figures were painted in black pigment on the natural red clay ground. Finishing details were then incised into the black pigment, revealing the red ground. The great Attic painters (mid 6th century BC), most notably Exekias, developed narrative scene decoration and perfected the style. It continued to be popular until the advent of red-figure pottery (с 530 BC).
