1. <psychology> In behaviour modification treatment programs, especially those involving mentally retarded individuals, overlearning the desired target behaviour beyond the set criterion to assure that the behaviour will continue to meet the established criterion when the post-learning decrements and forgetting occur.

2. <microscopy> A lens that focuses central light rays nearer to the lens than it focuses outer rays. The reverse is under-correction.
