<immunology, nephrology> A disease which is characterised by the deposition of the fibrous protein amyloid in one or more locations within the body.

Amyloid deposition may occur in the kidney, brain, liver, heart, skin and lungs. A recognised complication is a restrictive cardiomyopathy.
