pseudohyperkalaemia

A spurious elevation of the serum concentration of potassium occurring when potassium is released in vitro from cells in a blood sample collected for a potassium measurement. Origin: pseudo + G. Hyper, above + L. Kalium, potassium, G. Haima, blood
