<chemical> [6-(dimethylamino0-3h-xanthen-3ylidine]dimethylammonium chloride. Xanthene dye used as a bacterial and biological stain.

Synonym: pyronin; pyronine g; pyronine y. Use also for pyronine b. Which is diethyl-rather than dimethylamino-.

Pharmacological action: dyes.
