<enzyme> An enzyme that catalyses the reversible reaction of l-tyrosine and alpha-ketoglutarate producing p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate and l-glutamate; this enzyme catalyses a step in l-phenylalanine and l-tyrosine catabolism; a deficiency of this enzyme is associated with tyrosinaemia II.
