Treponema
<bacteria> Genus of bacteria of the spirochaete family (Spirochaetaceae).
Treponema pallidum causes syphilis. Cells are corkscrew like, (6-15um long,0.1-0.2um wide), motile, anaerobic and with a peptidoglycan cell wall and a capsule of glycosaminoglycans similar to hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulphate in composition. Membrane has cardiolipin.

1. The act of seducing; enticement to wrong doing; specifically, the offense of inducing a woman to consent to unlawful sexual intercourse, by enticements which overcome her scruples; the wrong or crime of persuading a woman to surrender her chastity.
2. That which seduces, or is adapted to seduce; means of leading astray; as, the seductions of wealth.
