Tenzing, Norgay (oh)



(1914-86) a Nepalese sherpa (=a mountain climber employed to guide Other climbers) who is often called Sherpa Tenzing. He and Sir Edmund Hillary were the first people to reach the top of Mount Everest, in 1953.

A metabolite of spironolactone that contains double bonds between C-4 and C-5 and between C-6 and C-7; formed upon removal of the 7alpha-acetylthiol side chain from spironolactone and as potent a diuretic as the parent compound.
